Hourly pay ranges include increases every six months*:
• Journeyman Mechanic $32.26 - $41.43, plus up to $3 per hour with ASE certifications
• Journeyman Electronic Technician $32.26 - $41.43
• Mechanic (Body and Upholstery) $29.05 - $40.55
• Automotive Mechanic $29.05 - $39.37, plus up to $3 per hour with ASE certifications
• Apprentice Mechanic $28.87 - $33.13
• Service Worker $23.80 - $28.36
• Mechanic Helper $27.03 - $27.44

Ultramodern training

We offer a nine-month Maintenance Certification Course in a state-of-the-art classroom which covers all aspects of bus maintenance in 69 classes in 207 hours, at no cost to employees. OCTA is a member of the Southern California Regional Transit Training Consortium (SCRTTC), regularly participating in maintenance training offered through the consortium at no cost to employees.

OCTA offers an opportunity for a $0.25 per hour pay increase for each ASE certification passed and maintained; up to $2 per hour for completing the ASE master technician in your field. Once you have completed the master certification in the automotive or transit bus series, we also offer the opportunity to earn an extra $1, for a total of $3 per hour, by adding the L1 or L2 certification.
